The ...The grid is showing the filet crochet design. The instructions clearly explain how to create this design. Perhaps you're not familiar with what filet crochet is. It's a series of open and closed double crochet squares. To have an open square, there needs to be a chain stitch between two double crochet stitches. To have a closed square, it's three double crochet stitches. Each stitch of the grid has it's own stitch in the previous row. They do not share stitches. You need double the amount of chain stitches + turning stitches to start, so the grid can be properly made. Hope that helps.Abby Davishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04324511684836415313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5160568048953812541.post-10189306897018446642015-03-21T10:15:08.796-04:002015-03-21T10:15:08.796-04:00Help, ok? I recommended that counting technique, because it's what I use for every crochet project that requires lots of chains and/or rows. It helps me keep track. I also put a paper clip at the end of every 2 or 5 rows. Which ever # you decide on, repeat that same amount for the whole project, so you can easily keep track of the row amount. This helps a lot with grid patterns...like the filet crochet is. If I don't use these counting methods, I always have to pull out stitches, which is annoying and requires lots more work to be redone.Abby Davishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04324511684836415313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5160568048953812541.post-17552822824465542692010-06-17T13:28:14.871-04:002010-06-17T13:28:14.871-04:00thanks! :) I must've pulled out redone that fi...thanks! :) I must've pulled out redone that first chain 15 times because I kept losing count. :-P it was too hard to count the stitches with the thread, which I can usually do with yarn. :-P Thanks again for posting the pattern!Daily Nailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03876862666813505582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5160568048953812541.post-62602531013678421052010-06-15T11:50:10.848-04:002010-06-15T11:50:10.848-04:00It looks great!
